Emma Carlisle - Untitled

Emma is a based in Devon, where she works as an artist and illustrator. After graduating from Anglia Ruskin University in 2014 with an MA in Children's Book Illustration, Emma had a successful career as an illustrator publishing multiple books with Macmillan. In 2018 she restarted her creative practice with a shift towards only drawing the world outside. Emma can often be found drawing ‘en plein air’ around Cornwall and Devon in her sketchbook, attempting to capture the sense of place of the land or seascape. She allows her artworks to revel in colour, bursts of abstract, experimental marks often become land sea or sky, and Emma’s practice now ranges from large abstract canvases to bound notebooks and digital editions.
